For those businesses in Dartmouth adversely affected by the revised
rateable values and who wish to challenge them, the Chamber advises the
following actions as minimum:
1. Write a letter of complaint to the person responsible for setting the
new rate: Tracy Deering , VOA, 190 Armada Way, Plymouth, PL1 1EG, 01752
614 108.
2. Copy it to the manager at the Plymouth VOA: Linda Davidson –
mentioning that MP Anthony Steen has provided the contact name.
3. Also write to John Reeves, Group Valuation Officer for the South
West, again mentioning that Anthony Steen has provided the contact. He
is at Valuation Office Agency, Wingate House, 93-107 Shaftesbury Avenue,
London W1D 5BU; 0207 5061700. Mention that MP Anthony Steen has provided
the contact name.
4. Go to the VOA website by
clicking here.
where you can view and appeal against (or at least at this stage
register your opposition to) the valuation.
5. If you rent your premises, make sure your landlord is aware of the
increase and encourage him/her to also take actions 1-4 above.
The Chamber urges you to do this without delay so that the VOA will now
soon realise the weight of opposition. Don’t leave it to others. It’s
the volume of individual complaints that matters.
