Live cookery
demo
from Mitch Tonks, Michael Caines
and Fergus Henderson
Foodies will recognise all these names
and be as excited as we are about this
demo! It starts mid-afternoon (we'll
upload the exact details a little nearer
the time) with the three chefs
demonstrating their unique styles.
That's laid back (Mitch), stickler for
detail (that's Michael) and if it
breathes, then cook and eat it (that's
Fergus). We're doing our best to get
hold of a special demo kitchen to ensure
you can see everything that's going on
and you'll be able to ask questions
throughout. And pleeeeease, someone, ask
Fergus what it's like to eat an
elephant...
Free
entry but best to arrive early to secure
your place on the South Embankment

Children's Festival
Thursday, 22
October 9-4pm
Fun fun fun! Everyone welcome FREE
entry
An absolute treat of a
day, not only for young 'uns but for
parents too.
Ever wonder where the food your ma and
pa cook for you comes from? And no, we
don't mean the Farmers' Market or
Sainsburys we mean where it
really comes from. Well,
wonder no more. You'll get to pat,
prod, touch and taste lots of stuff as
you experience the evolution of food
from seed to celery, from egg to
omelette, fish to fishcake and pig to
pork pie. (Note to parents: don't
worry, no animals will be harmed in our
demonstration it's just for fun).
Meet our local suppliers that's Mark
the fisherman (he'll bring along some
scaly creatures for you to tickle),
Mike the farmer (he'll be on his tractor
with a lamb or two), Bugfords Nursery
(they'll tell you all about planting
stuff), Moores Butchers (find out which
bit's the parson's nose) and loads
more. For you cool under 5s, there's
also a pre-school area with dieticians
on hand to talk about healthy eating and
dispense fruit kebabs (and don't worry,
ice-cream is fine as long as it's just
one a DAY when you're in Dartmouth, yum
yum).
So, if you want to find out why our
chicken crossed the road, which little
piggy went to market, slurp lemon tea,
guzzle ice-cream, learn loads and
generally have a fantasmagorical day out
in Dartmouth, then don't miss out. See
you there...

Mad Dog McCrea Live
plus Irish Food Market Square -
Friday, 23 October 8.00pm-11.00pm
Drink, stink and be merry!
Well, what a knees-up of an evening we
have planned for you. Mad Dog McCrea
are a Celtic Folk Rock-band with
numerous musical influences including,
wait for it, Irish Folk, Punk, Rock,
Irish and Scottish traditional, Eastern
European, Disney, Country and
Bluegrass. Fronted by
singer/guitarist, Michael Mathieson,
they originally formed in 1995 as
street buskers but metamorphosed into a
gigging band. To quote their MySpace
page With their increasingly lively,
spontaneous and uniquely orchestrated
performances, the band are acclaimed,
not only for their music but for the off
stage chaos and antics that seems to
surround them....
Whilst you're
swaying, waving your hands in the air,
and generally dad dancing (may be best
to leave the kids at home), you can
experience some of the best in Irish
traditional food. Whether it's soda
bread, Colcannon, organic smoked salmon
or some of Ireland's famous farmhouse
cheeses, there'll be plenty to get your
teeth into.
Say no more, just book your tickets now
and join in the fun!
