Dartmouth Music Festival 2013

The 'unofficial' guide!

10-11-12  May 2013

The streets are alive with the sound of music
Julie Andrews would have loved to be in Dartmouth on the second weekend in May when the whole of this historic town in South Devon resounds to a musical extravaganza!

The Dart International Music Festival is now well established and after its start in 1998 has attracted high quality musicians from all around the world. From bagpipes and drums to jazz stars such as George Melly and Digby Fairweather, from school choirs to Chamber Orchestras, boogie woogie to a didgeridoo,  these are just some of the acts we have had in recent years!   If you like music, the festival has something for you!

Each year hundreds of music lovers descend on the beautiful town of Dartmouth for three days in May to stroll along the river bank or around its narrow historic streets sampling the eclectic mix of music on offer, as well as visiting the town’s many pubs and restaurants, shops and art galleries.

By the Bandstand in the Royal Avenue Gardens, where much of the action takes place, the tulips and blossom may still be out, adding even more splendour to the event. A lot of the music is in the open air or local pubs and is free of charge, though you will see the many volunteer collectors shaking their buckets amid the crowds, for without generous public donations, this festival could not continue.

Whatever your age or musical tastes, come along and enjoy the Dart Music Festival this year!

  • We hope this unofficial website has sparked your inertest in the Dart Music Festival.
