Fatstock Show

As is customary, after each Fatstock Sow there is a dinner
and by all accounts a lot to drink? Maybe this is why
our reporter has failed us! Anyway, here are the
pictures.

Candlelit Dartmouth

The Candlelit event is nearly here – it all starts this
Friday afternoon. The team has been busy handing out
lanterns and programmes this week and everybody is set for a
great weekend. There will be late night shopping until 8pm
in the interesting shops and galleries that Dartmouth has to
offer so why not come and buy some individual and different
Christmas gifts? Several of the shops will be having special
offers and events to tempt you even further – see the list
below for some examples. With entertainers, musicians, a
lantern lit procession and a market until 9pm PLUS candlelit
dinners do you need any more reasons to visit?

5. Paella at
Browns
James reports: In order to support the Dartmouth
Candlelit weekend with something a little different, more
informal, quick to eat, and shopping friendly, we will be
cooking Paella on Friday and Saturday evening. We can cater
for those with shell fish allergies and will have a small
selection of starters and some desserts as well.
The price is £8:50 including a small glass of wine, a beer
or soft drink. Children are welcome.

Our bar nights are always full so you will need to get

6. Terence
the Turkey
This turkey is not your average
Christmas dinner, 3 year old Terence the turkey went to the
Royal Showground at Stonleigh this week to the Poultry Club
(GB) National Show and came home with a large rosette, a
certificate and the title National Champion Bronze Turkey
2007.
Owner Peter Hayford had the champion turkey in 1996 and
Terence is descended from that winner, so is not destined
for anyone’s Christmas table, but will be kept for a
breeding stag.
Terence lives in the Big Fun Farm at Woodlands Leisure Park,
near Dartmouth where he is pictured with Ranger Helen; he
will be receiving visitors every weekend and most days
during the school holidays. Helen said “He now has 2 turkey
wives so we are looking forward to some cute baby Terence or
Tabitha chicks.” Check Terence out by

7. TIC Guide
Nigel Way presented the AGM of the Tourist Information
Centre last Monday and also launched the new 2008 Discover
Dartmouth Guide. Everyone should have one and give one to
their friends, so pop down to the TIC and get a few?
Marketing Dartmouth as as a destination is so
important, it is all too easy to confuse us with Dartmoor or
Dawlish.
There is only one Dartmouth, our Dartmouth!
The river, 14 Bars, World Class Restaurants, Art Galleries
and dozens of fascinating specialist shops. No other
destination or area has what we have.
