4. Sea
Dragon's ship spotted near Dartmouth!
Passing drivers were amazed to see the purple monster flying
in the Devon skies on Friday. The Sea Dragon Swing Ship,
66ft long needed a 50 ton crane to lift it into its new zone
at Woodlands near Dartmouth.
“She’s half a million pound monster” said Pat Bendall,
Woodlands Designer “Our visitors asked for a white knuckle
thriller and the Swing Ship is a heart stopping stunner.
Riders whip up 44ft and hang suspended before crashing into
a G Force surge”.
The Woodlands mascot, Seawood the Sea Dragon did a jig with
excitement as his ship gently dropped into its moorings.
“There’s no stopping him now” Pat said “the colours and
design match the Sea Dragon. He will be the first on when
the ride opens on Good Friday ready for Easter”. The
official launch of the Sea Dragon by Dartmouth Sea Cadets,
the Mayor of Dartmouth and the RNLI is celebrated on Pirates
Day Wednesday April 9th 2008. The Mayor of Kingsbridge is
judging the Davy Jones Best Dressed Pirate Competition and
the Mayor of Totnes is handing out Pirates' Loot bags to
quaking VIP ship riders.

. Fun
Horse ride
Look out for the fun horse ride around Dartmouth and local
parishes on 6th April in aid of Macmillan Cancer
Relief and Erme Valley Group of Riding for the
Disabled. This event, which is a treasure/scavenger hunt,
involving both road and off road work, is being
organised by Emie May and her friend Carole who was
diagnosed with terminal cancer last June. Emie says they
hope to raise enough money to "make a difference to
someone".
They are looking for horse riders to take part and are also
hoping non-riders will come along to enjoy the fun
activities and lamb roast and barbecue which will be
part of the event. Thanks to local retailers, raffle prizes
have been donated. Contact Emie on 07766 312111 or Carole on
07511 052632 for more information.
