A Curry at the
Guildhall

The Guildhall played host to the
fabulous Dartmouth Film Society Curry and Film Night, what a
show!! what a Curry!!
The Ballroom will accommodate 200 people making
it the biggest public meeting place in Dartmouth.
It has a stage at one end, making it ideal for dramatic or
musical events. A kitchen with full cooking facilities is also
available. To book the Ballroom for your event have a look
at how reasonable the charges are by

the Clerk on 01803 832281.
2. Burns
night, the pictures

We all had a really great time in The Royal Castle Hotel for
Burns Night. Bill May from the Vintners provided a
free Whisky Tasting session, and one of the Dartmouth dot TV
crew had the Haggis starter and the Haggis Main Course!!
(thank you Nic!)

3. Shoes and
cooking?
If you'd stopped by
Danielli in Lower Street
recently, hoping for a little shoe and clothing retail therapy,
you'd have found it strangely quiet as the staff had decamped
across the river to Kingswear. As a post Christmas treat owner
Sarah Hanafee decided to take her team for a day at the
Manna from Devon Cooking School.
Rather than the usual trip to a restaurant, Sarah thought it
would be a lot more fun if they all cooked their own meal
together and then invited their partners to join them for the
evening. Holly and David at the Cooking School organised
everything to enable them to create a wonderful Tuscan
celebratory meal, teaching them to make fresh pasta, foccaccia
bread, carpaccio of beef fillet and semifreddo, amongst an array
of other dishes.
Sarah said of the day, ''We had great fun cooking together,
learnt lots about Tuscan cuisine and had a great meal together;
the girls want to do it again next year'.

4. Memories
of Dartmouth
Yes! you can tell when
there isn't much news, that's when we run this subject!!
This photograph is of the Manor House, Southtown. It
was built in 1727 when the main road to Stoke Fleming was
the precipitous Swannaton Lane clinging to the northern
slope of the Warfleet valley. It was demolished early
in the 20th century to make way for Manor Gardens with their
magnificent panorama of the Bight, the Castles and the sea
beyond. It looks like we are all going to have a walk
and try to locate the houses on the right?

Dee Nutt reports: The
Dartmouth Medical Practice and Dartmouth Caring in
partnership, wish to become more proactive in supporting
carers who are linked to the Medical Practice. To
be able to help them in a positive way, the Practice and
Dartmouth Caring feel that they need to have an insight
into carers' needs and anxieties and hopefully, with
this knowledge, be able to help them in their role as a
carer in their home environment. To facilitate
this they would like to invite carers to take up one of
the following options;
1. Contact Dee Nutt directly at the Dartmouth Caring
office either in person or by telephone 9am – 12noon
Monday – Friday on 01803 835 384
2. Come and join Dee Nutt for coffee at the Guildhall
10.30am on Wednesday 26th March 2008
3. Tea and coffee at the Clifton Room Guildhall 3pm
Thursday 27th March 2008
If any carer wishes to join Dee for either of the above
please let Dartmouth Caring office know on 01803 835
384. Dee realizes that if you are caring for a loved
one, your time is precious, so either meeting will be as
brief as possible. She hopes that carers can take
up one of these options because only by talking to you,
can the Medical Practice and Dartmouth Caring have an
understanding of your needs.

This is soooo stupid but
true... and it's going to drive you crazy!
While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot
off the floor and make clockwise circles.
Now, while doing this, draw the number " 6 " in
the air with your right hand.
Your foot will change direction and there's nothing you
can do about it!!

Is
