1. Boats on the
river

Andy Kyle reports this strange
trihull trisail boat near Warfleet, it isn't a joke, but
what on earth is it? Tony Pike took the Classic Craft
at the top of the news and the one at the bottom of this news,
he commented "if ever I saw a boat that could replace the
Charlotte Rhodes, this would be it". Come back "Son of
Onedin Line" ? |

Vicky Cristina Barcelona tonight!
Dartmouth Film Society's final film for the summer
season is VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA directed by Woody Allen
and starring Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johannson and Javier
Bardem.
At its heart is a complex web of desire between a brooding
artist (Javier Bardem), his hysterical wife (a show-stealing
Penelope Cruz) and two Americans - one straight-laced
(Rebecca Hall), the other more sexually and romantically
adventurous (Scarlett Johansson) - on a European mission to
find themselves. Set in Barcelona, discussions about
life, love and the Spanish guitar abound, gallons of rioja
are drunk and much paint is thrown around.
Guest tickets for sale in The Windjammer £3.30 from 7.30 -
7.55. Our bar in The Guildhall opens at 7.30 - the film to
be shown at 8pm approx. |

See it first at the Flavel!
Edinburgh Fringe Preview Shows
The Flavel are delighted to have not just 1 but 3 shows this
year previewing before they head up to the world famous
Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
On Weds 29 July at 5pm they have
the new family friendly stand-up comedy show from Patrick
Monahan for everybody aged 6 to 96. Lively, interactive and
physical comedy from one of the country’s friendliest,
cleanest and most charming comedians with music and probably
a very big dog.
Patrick will be appearing again at 8pm
with his brand new one hour stand up show ‘My Kind of
People’ – featuring stories about his journey to find people
like him – a non-drinking, non-smoking, Irish Iranian
Teesider! Patrick impressed Flavel audiences as a Comedy
Festival compere here 2 years ago so if you missed him then
don’t miss this 2nd chance to see him in Dartmouth before he
really hits the big time! With support from Alan Seaman,
‘Hot Potatoes and Common Vegetables’.
Then on Fri 31 July at 8pm the
brilliant Australian storyteller Kent Valentine with the
show he took
to Melbourne’s April Comedy Festival ‘How to Love Everyone’.
A story about Star Wars, pigeons, and Weston-Super-Mare. He
will be supported by Matt Price who as the regular Flavel
Comedy Lounge compere never gets a chance to get a word
in…..his debut solo show is hotly tipped for glory at
Edinburgh catchily titled ‘My Girlfriend Was Beaten Up By a
Small Time Wannabe Gangster and This is What I Did about
It’. Not as bleak as it sounds, honest!
