As you will see from the Programme
and Newsletters, the Food Festival has grown into a major
event in the Dartmouth Calendar. If you do not yet have your
copy of the programme, they can be found at various outlets
in and around Dartmouth, including the TIC. Below we
highlight some of the fabulous foodie experiences you will
find during the Festival.

Devon this Saturday to hear Chairman David Jones talking
about the Festival.
***Stop Press*** Devon Story Teller
Old Fairweather will entertain children and
families with his unique storytelling on Sunday 25th in the
Market.
Wednesday 21st October
***The
first food experience of this years Festival is to be
found at the Guildhall and is a Rationing Lunch
for Dartmouth Caring. There may be a little more on
their plates than during the war but the ingredients
will be the same, a trip down memory lane for Luncheon
Club members.Others are welcome to join and should call
Dartmouth Caring on 01803 839354
***Then
for everyone some really exciting food will be found on
the Embankment from
2.30pm, when Mitch
Tonks, Michael Caines and Fergus Henderson will be
demonstrating their own individual cooking styles.
Tasting will follow, get there early for a good
vantage point.

Reception, by invitation only, where patrons,
sponsors and supporters will be enjoying a glass of
Prosecco kindly donated by Tim McLaughlin-Green of
Sommeliers Choice, cava from
St Austell Brewery and delicious canapés from Elaine

First Night Party is being prepared by
The Spice Bazaar, The Dart Marina, The Royal Castle,
Browns Hotel, The Apprentice, Saveurs, Smith Street
Deli, Anzac Street Bistro, Phillips Foods and Dart to
Mouth Deli. Mitch
Tonks, Michael Caines and Fergus Henderson will be
demonstrating and talking about their passion for food.
Tickets are at the TIC, only £25, wonderful value
for a fabulous evening of watching, listening, tasting
and of course drinking with James Harris & Mick Jones’s
music adding to the enjoyment.
Thursday 22nd
October
***Today
is the turn of the younger generation to enjoy the
Children's Festival where they will taste new and
exciting things. In the market square, throughout the day,
they will have the opportunity to see Mark Lobb’s amazing
array of fish, eat ‘eggy bread’ made from eggs produced by
Edward Jones’ chickens who will be there on the day, or make
vegetable gnocchi with Russell from Riverford plus much,
much more.

In the evening and
throughout the festival many of our restaurants will be
putting on specially devised Food festival Menus.
***"Chocolat"
will be showing at the Flavel, this performance is
sponsored by Salcombe Choclate Academy and South Devon
Chilli Farm with chocolate to taste before the

***Browns Hotel are repeating their
very successful ‘Fish Night’ whereMark
Lobb will recreate his market stall in the middle of
Browns. All you have to do is chose from a large
selection of fish that Mark will have bought at Brixham
that morning. Mark will fillet the fish and send it to
the kitchen, they will return the fish on platters,
cooked in different styles for your enjoyment. Book

In
the Market Square as well as on the South Embankment
fabulous local producers with food of all varieties, with
delicious tastes and smells to sample from the stalls and
cooking demonstrations. You will find; breads, cheeses,
wines, ciders, beers, chutneys, jams, puddings, cakes,
meats, chocolates, olives, fish, fudge, pates and pies to
name just a few.
I cannot wait, bang goes the
diet for a few days!!!

Sunday 25th
All of the above at the
Market Square and South Embankment Markets as well as
the Cued Speech Lunch at the New Angel.
John Burton-Race and the New Angel Crew kindly hosted
this charity lunch last year and it was such a success
that an encore has been demanded. Book on 01803 839425
but do it quickly because places are selling very fast.

Food Festival Menus
Some Restaurants
around the town will be offering special Food Festival
menus, book directly with them for a fabulous meal. These
restaurants include:
***Anzac Streetwill be celebrating with a
6 course tasting menu using the very best of local fish,
meats and vegetables.
***Browns Hotel have a 4 course menu
focussing on well hung cuts of steak from Jilly Rowdon’s
beasts.
***Resnova Floating Restaurant
is again doing it’s Festival Fish Fest but their will be
dishes for carnivores and vegetarians as well
***Sailswill be serving Taste
of the West Country lunches and dinners from Thursday
onwards.
***RB’s are kicking off their Winter Supper
club on Friday 23rd October and Taylor’s
Restaurant are offering a special Pie & Pudding lunch
menu throughout October.
***Dart to Mouth Deli will
be operating an informal outdoor garden
restaurant in the Old Market during the
Food Festival.
***The Seahorse will be
hosting Vintage Bordeaux Dinners a rare
opportunity for fine wine enthusiasts.
