1.  Regatta Early Special

Despite not terribly good August weather, Regatta started with the Fete and Regatta Proms on Saturday, plus local rowing, sailing and funfair since then.  The weather worsened on Wednesday causing the organisers to arrange the traditional opening ceremony in the Ballroom in the Guildhall for only the second time in 166 years!  Chairman of Regatta, Jim Brent, was presented with the Silver Oar by our Mayor Richard Rendle MBE and several presentations of flowers were made.  See next week's news for more Regatta stories and pictures!

2. Dittisham Art & Flowers

The Art Exhibition in Dittisham Village Hall & Flower Festival in St. George's Church was a resounding success last weekend with nearly 70 pictures sold at the event.  The quality and variety was simply amazing and for once these photographs do not do the exhibition justice!  This a a three yearly event though we tried to persuade the organisers to hold it every year, we will wait and see!

Why not come down for the weekend, or even a week?

6.   Small News

  • The superyacht Northern Star got even more publicity being in almost every national newspaper.  However those people travelling in London who picked up a copy of the free paper Metro were able to read more, this has to be wonderful news for Dartmouth!  Click here to see what the Londoners read?

  • All the photographs you see here (apart from the header on top) were taken in the last 7 days in Dartmouth.

  • Regatta Recitals - don't miss the recitals in St Saviour's Church Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 11.55am.  Harriet Riley and Molly Lopresti-Richards play marimbas on Thursday; Michael and Eleanor Dawson, organ and recorders on Friday and Mark Casey plays the Church Organ on Saturday
