1.   Town Day     next Wednesday 5th July

Yvonne Cottam reports.   It replaced the old Town Week that folded about 5 years ago. I have tried to include most of what they did - but in one day!

We start at 11 am with fund raising stalls and refreshments - many local organisations will be represented and raising funds for their particular charity. The college will also have stalls.

At 11.20 ish the college Samba Band will make sure everyone knows we're there! We have a young man called Joe West, who was a student here, who will compère and entertain during the day (if you haven't heard him sing - he's worth coming to watch!).

At 12 noon we have an Under 5s Best Dressed Scarecrow competition followed at around 12.45 by entertainment from our students and pupils from the local primary schools. This will include steel bands, samba band, brass band, instrumentalists, singers and our Year 7 choir.

At 4 pm the Rotary Club will be staging their Fun Pet Show for the under 16s. All categories catered for!

2.    Upper Ferry Claims another victim !

Once again a holiday maker underestimated the wash of the ferry and lost his boat trailer, luckily Dart Harbour were there in a flash and found it on the bottom of the river bed, well done chaps !

3.    Russian Federation Ship 'Perekop'   this Friday 30 June 8:30 AM

This news was reported by the deputy head of the Baltic Naval Institute Vladimir Rudnik. According to him, 300 cadets of the institute and pupils of the Cadet Boarding School will have their probation period on board the ship. The ship started its training cruise in the Atlantic Ocean in June. During several weeks at sea the cadets will train in navigation and study the fundamentals of other special and sea disciplines. According to Vladimir Rudnik, the ship will call at Dartmouth for several days. Kaliningrad cadets will visit English seamen, including cadets of the Naval Academy. The commander will be the head of the Baltic Naval Institute, Rear-Admiral Dmitry Komkov.

4.    Dart Art Weekend

This weekend saw the best open air Art Festival in Devon, or Dartmouth at least !  Brilliant sunshine and a fantastic atmosphere, don't miss it next year ?

5.    Castle Cove is Open again ?

After the first opening, another one followed the next day featuring MP Antony Steen, the poet  Kevin Pyne and artist Simon Drew (& Rabbit).  Champagne and barbequed hot dogs followed a great ceremony !
