Despite not terribly good August
weather, Regatta started with the Fete and Regatta Proms on
Saturday, plus local rowing, sailing and funfair since then.
The weather worsened on Wednesday causing the organisers to
arrange the traditional opening ceremony in the Ballroom in
the Guildhall for only the second time in 166 years!
Chairman of Regatta, Jim Brent, was presented with the
Silver Oar by our Mayor Richard Rendle MBE and several
presentations of flowers were made. The weather then
got better and better!.
