Bigbury-on-Sea and
especially Burgh Island with it's wonderfully restored art deco hotel is a
real must-see for any visitor to the South Hams. To the right of this
landmark hotel you can see the Pilchard Inn dating from AD 1336. The hotel
is not open to the public but the inn is and you are free to walk with
care over most of the island to get magnificent views and observe the bird
life. The island can be reached on foot at low tide or you can take a ride
in the Sea Tractor when the island is cut off. |
