Tall Storeys is an attractive period
town house situated in a quiet street in
the centre of the picturesque and
historic port of Dartmouth, with
outstanding views across the town
towards the beautiful river Dart.
Ideally situated for exploring
Dartmouth’s narrow streets with their
many individual shops and galleries,
friendly pubs and outstanding
restaurants, it is just a few minutes
stroll to the river and the perfect
location for your holiday in this
beautiful part of South Devon.
Tall
Storeys lives up to its name, seeming to
have been built into one of the
hillsides which form the ancient town of
Dartmouth, with steps leading to the
entrance hall and the kitchen/ dining
room at ground floor level. The kitchen
is well equipped with electric cooker,
microwave, large fridge/freezer and
plenty of crockery and utensils to
enable you to prepare your own meals
from the excellent variety of local
produce available in the nearby shops.

Up a flight of stairs and you are in the
first floor sitting room. This bright
room has two opening French windows with
‘Juliet’ balconies and outstanding views
across the town to the river and
Kingswear beyond. There are comfortable
sofas, plus colour TV and DVD? Player.
The Victorian style fireplace is for
decoration only.

A further flight of stairs leads to the
second floor where you will find the
main double bedroom, again with
excellent views across the town from the
two large windows. An en suite shower
room is provided containing shower
cubicle with electric shower, vanity
basin and WC. The large family bathroom
with bath, sink, bidet and WC is also at
second floor level.
The top floor contains two further
double bedrooms under the eaves, one
with a washbasin. From the front room
once more there are wonderful views
towards the river. Both bedrooms have
double beds and plenty of hanging space
for clothes.

There is a good sized single bedroom at
first floor level with plenty of hanging
space for clothes.
General
Tall
Storeys has gas central heating and
offers cosy and comfortable
accommodation for your holiday in
Dartmouth at any time of the year.
Although parking is not available at the
property, roadside parking is often
available in nearby Crowthers Hill and
Victoria Road.
The terraced garden is
not suitable for anyone with mobility
problems; parents are advised that it
may not suite familys with very small
children who will need supervision.
Duvets
and linen are provided; towels may be
available by arrangement. Also, by
prior arrangement, well behaved pets may
be permitted. Smoking is not allowed.

From the
first floor half landing a door takes
you to the utility area which houses the
washing machine and tumble drier, and
also to the pretty terraced rear
gardens.
There are several terraces, all of which
have spectacular views across town to
the river and have the benefit of sun
for the major part of the day, ideal for
relaxing with a book or simply admiring
the scenery. If you like outdoor
dining, at the first level there is a
table and chairs and shade if you need
it from a mature bay tree. Climbing the
steep steps you eventually reach the top
level where the spectacular view across
the town is like being at the top of a
mountain!

Tall Storeys is right in the centre
in the cosmopolitan and ancient port of
Dartmouth with its narrow winding
streets, wide range of shops, galleries,
pubs and restaurants - the perfect
holiday setting! Take a stroll into
town and explore the narrow streets and
many Dartmouth “steps”, take a break and
enjoy a coffee at one of the outdoor
cafes.
The town has an excellent selection of
individual shops and art galleries, with
something to suit all tastes. Visit the
Museum, located in The Butterwalk, one
of the oldest buildings in Dartmouth, or
take a tour of the Britannia Royal Naval
College which celebrated its centenary
in 2005 and where all British naval
officers receive their training.
If you feel more energetic, walk out to
visit Dartmouth Castle (English
Heritage) at the mouth of the river,
it’s only about a 15 minute stroll and
offers some outstanding views especially
back towards the town and the Naval
College. When the bluebells are out,
don’t miss a walk up to Gallants Bower
(near Dartmouth Castle) to marvel at a
spectacular display of these very
English spring flowers.
To see more of the river and its
wildlife, including herons, cormorants
and even seals, take one of the many
guided boat trips up river to Totnes, or
even rent your own boat for the day! A
“Round Robin” trip will give you the
opportunity to view the countryside and
sample transport by river, bus and steam
train!
Around and about!
If the sea
is what you’re after, it’s only a short
15 minute drive west to the beach at
Blackpool Sands; this privately owned
beach, set in its own little bay, has
been awarded a Blue Flag and is
beautifully maintained, with superb
swimming in clean, clear water,
refreshing showers, award winning beach
café and shop. Laze away the day just
relaxing in the sun, or if water sport
is your thing, kayaks, boogie boards and
wetsuits can be hired on the beach; many
of our visitors say it is like being on
the Mediterranean!
When the weather is cooler,
tramp one of the many nearby footpaths
that will take you inland through
beautiful woods, vales and villages, or
out onto the coast path for some sea air
and fantastic views? Or maybe try a spot
of kite flying at Slapton Sands, where
the waves can be quite spectacular.
Then, to recover and warm those hands
and feet,
why not visit one of the many pubs in
town with a cosy log fire. The Cherub,
the oldest building in Dartmouth , just
a hop, skip and a jump away from Tall
Storeys, the Royal Castle, right on the
Quay or perhaps the Dartmouth Arms on
Bayards Cove, where you can watch the
sun go down and the lights come on in
Kingswear on the opposite bank of the
river.
There's so much
to see and do in the South Hams whatever
time of year you visit. There are dozens
of activities and attractions to be had
from sailing and boating on the Dart,
paragliding or windsurfing in Bigbury
Bay or taking a steam train and open top
bus ride from Dartmouth (Kingswear) to
Totnes and then back again on a pleasure
cruiser down the river. Or why not
explore nearby National Trust gardens
and houses like Greenway, the summer
home of Agatha Christie or Coleton
Fishacre built by the D'Oyley Carte
family? With castles at Dartmouth,
Totnes, Compton and Berry Pomeroy there
are plenty of ancient buildings to
discover.
